Perpetual Motion’s Album Eclipses Tradition.

“This album is a testament to the band’s infinite cycle of depth and innovation. We strived to record a project that bridged artistry and emotion for listeners to reflect on.”

The project’s “Venus Flytrap” exemplifies the band’s genius of intersecting tradition and innovation by reimagining Little Sunflower by Freddie Hubbard. The track cleverly intertwines Hubbard’s 1967 melody with Southern Hip-Hop’s contemporary, polyrhythmic Trap sound. EKLIPSE reveals the band’s versatility as it uplifts and unequivocally reclaims music of the African Diaspora such as R&B, Rock, Afro-Latinx/Caribbean, and more. Another song entitled “Life and Death” captures a similar jazz-rock sound aesthetic, while the band’s ear-catching “Shake It” introduces what Ohemeng calls “Jazz-Drill” onto the Jazz music scene.
