Celebrating Perpetual Motion’s 10th Anniversary in 2023!

Premier Jazz band, Emmanuel Ohemeng III & Perpetual Motion, breaks new ground by sonically fusing traditional Jazz instrumentation with refreshing modern sounds like elements of Trap, Rock, and R&B! The mixture of these tonal and rhythmic patterns transports audiences through an unforgettable musical journey. Founded in 2013, the band is comprised of a pianist, bassist, drummer, saxophonist and a trombonist. Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the group has received wide acclaim as one of the region’s top jazz ensembles. They have performed at a myriad of esteemed venues and festivals throughout the tri-state area and beyond. Events include but are not limited to MONDO.NYC, the American Visionary Art Museum (Baltimore, MD), Trocadero Theatre, Paris Bistro, Fabrika, the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz, the Philadelphia United Jazz Festival, the South Street Spring Festival, the Haverford Music Festival, and the Philly Music Festival. As a frequent performer at the renowned World Cafe Live Philadelphia, Perpetual Motion completed a yearlong residency there in 2023. Soon, the band plans to record and release their long-awaited debut album, EKLIPSE.

Meet the Founder


Emmanuel Ohemeng III is a music teacher, bandleader, composer, arranger and trumpeter residing in Philadelphia, PA.

Since he was a child, Emmanuel has been engulfed in jazz culture. Playing the trumpet for over fifteen years, he has earned numerous prestigious music awards including the Tonya Dorsey New Vision Scholarship, the Woody Herman Jazz Soloist Award, the Berklee College of Music’s 5 Week Music Scholarship, and the Vermont Jazz Center Music Scholarship. Additionally, Emmanuel has studied and performed alongside the world’s top instrumental artists such as Ingrid Jensen, Chris Botti, Tia Fuller, John Swana, Terence Blanchard, Larry McKenna, Bernard Purdie and more! These various experiences contributed to his multidimensional sound and forward-thinking. Emmanuel’s musical talent has also been featured within on-screen projects under the creative direction of companies such as KHILA LLC and Spike Jordan (popularly known for his directorial work for Gunna, Meek Mill, Lil Uzi Vert, and others). Most recently, he was featured as a trumpeter in the annual Christmas Concert for the Philadelphia Catholic Gospel Mass Choir. This worldwide broadcast reaches over 12 million viewers across 140+ countries. In 2022, PHL LIVE Center Stage also recognized his band as one of the city’s top five jazz bands!

Currently, he teaches Philadelphia school students, provides private trumpet lessons, and performs with his band who will release a debut album in 2024.
